Every child's learning experience is unique at Knowledge House.
At Knowledge House Preschool, we promote self-direction, independence, and responsible freedom to help children build a strong foundation for Kindergarten. Our program blends Montessori and Reggio Emilia approaches, offering a nurturing environment where children explore nature, early academics, self-awareness, and social skills.
Outdoors, children garden, collect leaves, observe the chickens, and care for plants. On our walking paths, we slow down and use all our senses—seeing, hearing, smelling, touching, and thinking—to spark curiosity and deepen their connection with the natural world.
Montessori & Reggio Inspired
Our preschool program combines the best of Montessori and Reggio Emilia approaches, helping children explore, create, and learn through hands-on experiences.
Montessori
Classrooms are designed for children, with child-sized furniture and accessible materials.
Children learn to:
Explore and practice new skills
Take care of themselves and their environment
Be kind and work cooperatively with others
Reggio Emilia
Focuses on curiosity and creativity, letting children’s interests guide learning.
Topics connect art, science, academics, and hands-on activities.
Children are encouraged to:
Ask questions
Solve problems
Collaborate with classmates
Explore through open-ended play and art
The result: children develop confidence, creativity, and a love of learning in a fun, supportive environment.
Environment as the Third Teacher
The classroom environment is a powerful part of early learning. The materials children use—and how they’re arranged—spark curiosity, independence, and meaningful play.
At Knowledge House, children ages 2.5 to 5 learn together in a mixed-age community. They explore at their own pace, choose materials that interest them, and learn both independently and with peers. Through play and discovery, they build confidence, relationships, and a love of learning.
Outdoor Activities
We are fortunate to have outdoor spaces that include fruit trees, a garden, chickens, and a walking path. Children have opportunities to explore, plant seeds, bulbs, and seedlings, and harvest berries, apples, pears, and vegetables from our garden.
